The First Edition of the Montreal English Theatre Awards (METAs) were held Monday night at the Rialto Theatre. Approximately 230 of the English theatre community attended this formal event. Awards were presented to professional, independent and community theatre companies.
The ceremony opened with a hilarious number performed by the evening's hosts, Holly Gauthier-Frankel and Marcel Jeannin. The three piece band, Nick Carpenter on piano, Sean Campbell on bass and Brett Watson on drums, were always on point to play the winners off when their speeches had surpassed a minute. Though few winners paid much attention!
The ceremony seemed to go off without a hitch. As one would hope, the crowd was both attentive and supportive.
Below you will find the complete list of winners for the 2013 META awards.
