Montreal, July 31st, 2013 - The Segal Centre is proud to announce the Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theatre's exciting and jam-packed 2013-2014 season. Leading up to the main stage production of the beloved musical, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz in June 2014, Canada's only Yiddish-language theatres will present heartwarming concerts, laugh out loud comedy, staged readings, all told in Yiddish with English supertitles.

The DWYT launches its I Heart YIDDISH Series with a tribute to its late great composer of many musicals, Eli Rubinstein, on August 27th at 8:00 p.m. The series returns for a third year of concerts, staged readings, film screenings, and more. Another highlight of the four-part program includes a re-mount of Miriam Hoffman's Yiddish adaptation of Neil Simon's rollicking comedy Sunshine Boys, Di Komedyantn in the spring. The staged reading featuring Aron Gonshor and Sam Stein as an estranged vaudeville duo played to a packed house in November 2012.

For the first time, the DWYT will be presenting a new series dedicated to English programmes based on deep Jewish roots and values. The inaugural The New Jewish Scene mini-festival from March 23rd to 25th, 2014 will include the premiere of Ben Gonshor's new play, When Blood Ran Red (directed by Maurice Podbrey) and a lineup of films in collaboration with the Toronto Jewish Film Festival.

For the first time, ticket-buyers have the opportunity to subscribe to all four I Heart YIDDISH events for a reduced rate. See the full season lineup below and ticket information.

Finally, Bryna Wasserman will return to the Segal Centre to co-direct the Yiddish musical adaptation of The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, with Rachelle Glait from June 8th to 29th, 2014. The former Segal Centre Artistic Director remains involved with the DWYT as Honorary Artistic Director.
