Centaur Theatre Company is proud to open its 45th Season with the world premiere of Steve Galluccio's hotly anticipated new comedy, The St. Léonard Chronicles.
The St. Léonard Chronicles is a delicious comedy about a young couple in St. Leonard. There is barely a hint of gilded
rococo in their newly renovated duplex - not just a cultural infraction, but a telltale sign. Now Terry and Robert want
to move to the Anglo-Saxon suburb of Beaconsfield, seen as tantamount to committing a mortal sin by their traditional Italian relatives. When they break the news to their family, their announcement opens the floodgates to other unspoken desires and revelations, turning conservative St. Léonard values totally upside down!
"I am delighted to direct this hysterically funny and deeply moving play and to have such an outstanding cast. After
many days of auditions we are happy to say we've reassembled much of the wonderful cast who played in Steve's last play In Piazza San Domenico. The actors have great chemistry and extraordinary comedic timing. Audiences will be in stitches! I am also proud that the incredible Dorothée Berryman is making her Centaur debut," says Roy Surette, Centaur's Artistic and Executive Director.
The celebrated actress, jazz singer, and radio host has a long list of accomplishments including her unforgettable
performance in the Oscar nominated film, The Decline of the American Empire and the sequel The Barbarian
Invasions. She also appeared in American productions, including the role of Mary Todd Lincoln in the Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis miniseries.
THE ST. LÉONARD CHRONICLES CAST: Dorothée Berryman appears as Gina, Michel Perron plays her husband
Carmine (In Piazza San Domenico, True Nature, Don Quixote, Mambo Italiano ), Christina Broccolini plays their
daughter Terry (In Piazza San Domenico) and Guido Cocomello plays their son-in-law Robert (In Piazza San
Domenico, Paradise by the River, Carpenter Trilogy). Robert's parents Dante and Elisa are played by Centaur
favourites Vittorio Rossi (Paradise by the River, writer of The Carpenter Trilogy) and Ellen David (God of Carnage, The Carpenter Trilogy, Mambo Italiano). Jocelyne Zucco appears as Dora, the narcoleptic matriarch (In Piazza San
Domenico).
Set and Costume Designer Anne-Séguin Poirier is responsible for the stylish sets and costumes (Shirley Valentine,
Maddy Heisler, Condoville); Lighting Designer Ana Cappelluto cleverly captures and capitalizes on the funniest
moments in the play (Paris in America, Copenhagen) and the talented Stage Manager Luciana Burcheri and Assistant Stage Manager Sarah-Marie Langlois make sure the show runs smoothly. Mitchell Cohen is assistant to the director.
The St. Léonard Chronicles is the third Steve Galluccio production to premiere at Centaur Theatre. His stage-to-screen smash hit, Mambo Italiano, holds the record for the longest running show in Centaur's history. In Piazza San
Domenico also earned rave reviews and extended runs. His screenwriting credits include the hit film of Mambo
Italiano, Surviving my Mother and Funkytown. What are you going to feed yourselves with in Beaconsfield... Tim Horton's lasagna?
