This year marks the 10th anniversary of Centaur Theatre Company's annual fundraising gala. Preparations are in full swing for Ooh La La!, which will take place on September 30th, 2014. This landmark event promises to be a scintillating start to Centaur's Shocking and Delightful 46th season. This year's gala will also honour Maurice Podbrey, Centaur's Founding Artistic Director, in celebration of his 80th birthday.
Returning Gala Honourary Chair Tony Loffreda will welcome guests into the lavish Seagram Gallery at 6:00 PM. Attendees will be tempted by delectable offerings from Catering By George!, including a carvery of Black Angus Chateaubriand and whole sides of smoked salmon, as well as delicious wines and digestifs provided by the SAQ. Throughout the cocktail di?natoire, the silent auction will feature an extravagant array of prizes such as gift certificates to the best local restaurants, tickets to acclaimed plays and romantic getaways. Montreal's favourite meteorologist Lori Graham will return as the gala's Treasure Chest Queen, and will be accompanied by Treasure Chest Ambassadors Emily Tognet and Jaa Smith-Johnson, the stars of Centaur's upcoming production of Social Studies.
At 7:30 PM, guests will gather in the historic theatre for a live auction hosted by the inimitable Aaron Rand of CJAD. The incredible prizes are sure to entice some exciting bids. Some of our most sought-after packages include a trip to New York City, featuring hot tickets to a Broadway show and to a New York Knicks game and a two-night stay in the Upper West Side's Milburn Hotel; a 7-night luxury riverboat cruise for two to Vietnam; and an exclusive opportunity to meet cast members from Centaur's 46th Season.
Following the auction, the evening's entertainment will sizzle and delight with an unforgettable performance by burlesque star Scarlett James. Guests will also be treated to a sneak peek of Spring Awakening by award-winning local theatre company Persephone Productions, which will grace the Centaur stage from October 1st to 11th as part of the Brave New Looks program. At the end of the evening, no guest will go home empty-handed, with fantastic parting gifts such as gift certificates to local retailers and restaurants, as well as tickets to Centaur's highly anticipated season.
All proceeds of this glamorous event go to Centaur Theatre Company's tireless efforts to bringing quality, cutting-edge theatre to the Montreal community, and to its upcoming 46th season.
