WISTA (West Island Student Theatre Association) will present their sixth major musical production, DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, on February 19, 20 and 21 at 7:30 PM, as well as February 21 and 22 at 1:30 PM, 2015 at the Steve Murphy Theatre, which is located in Pierrefonds Comprehensive High School, 13800 boulevard Pierrefonds, Pierrefonds, QC.
WISTA is a 2014 META nominated community theatre group. Following its record-breaking Montreal premiere of 'Legally Blonde: The Musical' in February 2013, which was seen by over 1000 Montrealers, and their performance in February 2014 of the hilarious musical business satire 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying', WISTA is proud to bring this romantic and whimsical take on the classic fairytale to life!
"The dedication and commitment coming from each and every person involved in this production is unbelievable. WISTA has been putting on high quality musical productions since 2007 and the company has grown so much in the past few years. WISTA plans to continue to act as both an outlet for young talent and as well as maintain their reputation for providing high-caliber entertainment to Montreal audiences. I genuinely believe 'Disney's Beauty and the Beast' will be the best show yet!" says Jennifer Shewan, WISTA's President.
WISTA's 29 young performers all have one thing in common: a passion for musical theatre, which they balance with their studies in Montreal-area CEGEPs and universities.
WISTA is a non-profit organization founded in December 2006 by Charles McNeil, Joy Kertland and Craig Berger. Its main goal is to keep alive the passions of an energetic combination of singers, dancers, technicians and musicians, aged 17-29, for the sights and sounds of Broadway and great musical theatre. It is a school, a theatre company, a performance venue with dedicated volunteers and members, all with more than a passing interest in musical theatre and youth. WISTA is a member of the Quebec Drama Federation (QDF).
