Twenty three years old and the world to conquer, the actor Logan Denninghoff plays the role of Gaston in the Networks North American tour presented by Evenko in Montreal, Disney's BEAUTY & THE BEAST. He's been on the road for 13 months with the tour, his contract is almost up, and Montreal is the last city on his road map.
When he was 10 years old, he was exposed to musical theater - he was playing Kurt in a regional production of The Sound of Music. Right there and then, he knew that that's what he wanted to do.
Gaston is his first professional role, and he got it right out of school. He studied Musical Theatre Peformance at Florida State University, and his days were filled with acting and singing. He does not consider himself a dancer, even though he's had to learn quite a few numbers for Beauty & the Beast. "We dance a lot in the Tavern scene. The song has been extended for the musical and it is now expanded into a big peformance number. Its very impressive," says Denninghoff.
Logan finds himself very lucky to have worked with the original creative team of Beauty & the Beast. "They have reimagined the sets and costumes, and the direction is frankly inspiring," comments Logan. The role of Gaston is a role that he loves to play - his transformation from "town charmer" to a "monster" in act 2 is fascinating and fun to play for any actor. He appreciates every moment and he is very grateful for playing such an iconic character.
After his few representations in Montreal, Logan is headed home, and he will audition for his next roles. The young actor feels he has a great career ahead of him, and he wants to take time to prepare before heading to New York, mentally and financially.
When we asked him what's his dream role and his favorite musical, he answered that he is a fan of Next to Normal, but that he's not a good cast for the show. On the other hand, Denninghoff says that he is perfectly served by Beauty & the Beast, a "tale as old as time," a wondeful love story, and a spectacular production that is not to be missed.
