What would you fight for? What would you kill for? What would you die for? A serious comedy.
Theatre veterans Laura Mitchell and Ann Lambert team up with emerging National Theatre School playwright Alice Abracen (Lambert's daughter) and recent acting graduate Yousef Kadoura. This world premiere is set in the desert, but the theatre has air conditioning!
From playwright Alice Abracen: "At the heart of this piece is how two people find their own intractable ideals besieged by newfound empathy for one another. The play is inspired by recent events, but is timeless in the political and personal territory it probes, territory that will always be contested beyond the immediacy of today's conflicts. I hope audiences find themselves giggling, torn and filled with questions."
From actor/director Laura Mitchell: "I love the challenge of this role, the Pilgrim. She's courageous. Undaunted. Doesn't care what others think about her. That's not me. I love exploring how she struggles to replace the loss of love; trying to figure out what sacrifice has to do with redemption, and how without the anchor of family, we find home- whatever that is."
From director Ann Lambert: "I am fascinated by what happens when people are pushed to the limit of their principles; I was immediately drawn to these characters and the intensity of the journey they are on. I loved their humanity, and their use of humour to fight off the darkness."
