Musical directors Bob Bachelor and Chris Barillaro (hot off the Segal stage from Belles Sœurs) have compiled an eclectic and entertaining repertoire perfectly suited to the Singers. "We have opted to present a wide range of musical styles: audiences will hear Traditional, Jazz, Latin, Gospel and Contemporary arrangements, in both French and English", says Barillaro who added, "This collection of songs plays to the Singers' strength as performers and musicians".
A Lyric Christmas concert would not be complete without the talents of instrumentalists Sheila Hannigan (cello), Tim Malloch (flute), and Olga Gross (harp), who will join forces with Linda LaRoche (piano) and Chris Barillaro (percussion, keyboard) to serve up a festive family concert to kick-off the holiday season in style!
The Chapel's architecture, featuring large stained glass windows and warm wood finishes throughout, provides the perfect setting and outstanding acoustics for the rich voices and warm harmonies of the 40-member ensemble. "A new space also gives us the chance to change things up a little", confides Singers' founder Bachelor. "The Chapel has inspired us and we intend to take full advantage of everything it has to offer to ensure audiences of all ages have a great musical experience."
About The Lyric Theatre - The Lyric Theatre is a long-standing producer and promoter of musical theatre in the Montreal area. What began in 1965 with a vision of a community based group presenting an annual stage production on the West Island has, thanks to the creation of The Lyric Theatre Singers in 1990, grown into a company of performers from all areas of the city. The Singers rehearse and perform 10 months out of every year, presenting their Broadway revues as well as sold-out Christmas concerts annually. The Lyric Theatre is looking forward to celebrating 50 years of great performances in 2015.
