Vertigo Theatre Will Say Goodbye to General Manager Suzanne Mott, June 2014

Bill Whitelaw, Chair, Board of Directors - Vertigo Theatre Society announced yesterday Suzanne Mott, a long-serving and experienced member of Calgary's theatre community, will conclude her time as General Manager of Vertigo Theatre, effective June, 2014.

"While it's difficult to imagine Vertigo Theatre without Suzanne Mott at the helm, one of her enduring achievements is our now vibrant and sustainable organization. That foundation of sustainability will ensure the transition to secure a new General Manager will go smoothly and effectively-" said Whitelaw.

Bill Whitelaw continued, "Collectively, the Vertigo Theatre board of directors has deep experience in senior management recruitment and a well-developed mechanism in place. It was last implemented to secure the company's newest and current artistic director, Craig Hall." The national search for a new General Manager will begin in September, 2013.

Suzanne Mott has been with Vertigo Theatre in various capacities since 2000. Suzanne acted as consultant assisting the company relocate from its prior home at Calgary's Science Centre to its current location at the base of the Calgary Tower. Suzanne was the consultant for Vertigo Theatre's capacity building strategies - including development of governance policies and venue rental plans. Suzanne became Interim General Manager in the spring of 2004 and accepted the permanent position of General Manager in July, 2004. Suzanne Mott was the recipient of the prestigious 2010 Rozsa Award for Excellence in Arts Management, the richest award of its kind in Canada.

Suzanne Mott was the project coordinator that lead to the successful opening of Vertigo Theatre's current $6.8 million home at the base of the Calgary Tower - on time and on budget and without capital debt, and is the founder of the company's successful Y Stage Theatre series. Over the past ten years, Suzanne has led the company to nearly double its revenues and increase show attendance by more than 50%. Vertigo Theatre now has the second largest audience for not-for-profit theatre in Calgary.

Vertigo Theatre is a professional, not-for-profit charitable organization with a dual artistic mandate. Its mission is to be a leader in developing, producing and presenting plays based in the mystery genre, and plays for young audiences, while providing a performance home for other organizations.
