Marjorie Prime

Bozeman Actors Theatre, in cooperation with Verge Theater, continue their production run of "Marjorie Prime" in March at Verge Theater.

The critically acclaimed play by JorDan Harrison, nephew of the late Montana novelist and poet Jim Harrison ("Legends of the Fall"), completed its successful run Off Broadway in 2015 and was a finalist for that year's Pulitzer Prize for Drama. This thought-provoking drama confronts issues of aging and identity in a not-too-distant and unsettling future.

Set in the unspecified but oddly familiar future, the story takes place in the household of an average middle-aged couple, Tess and Jon, played by Cara Wilder and Gordon Carpenter, who share their home with Tess's 85-year-old mother, Marjorie (Dee Dee Van Zyl). Also present is Walter (Ryan Lawrence Flynn), a thirtysomething holographic representation, or "prime," of Marjorie's late husband, programmed to collect and sort Marjorie's fading memories. With gentle humor and subtle yet poignant insight, the play addresses issues of aging, death, memory loss and identity.

Bozeman Actors Theatre and Verge Theater will present "Marjorie Prime" as a 2017 Main Stage production at the Verge on Fridays and Saturdays between Feb. 24 and March 11, 2017, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $14 and are available online atvergetheater.com, or in person at Cactus Records in Downtown Bozeman. Verge Theater is located at 2304 N. 7th Ave.

Random Acts Of Improv

The Bozeman Improverts are on the Verge Main Stage in late March to tackle long form improv, the tight rope walk of the theater world! Using only an audience member's suggestion for the name of a play, the Improverts will take that title and create characters, scenes, and a complete story line in front of your very eyes.

Cast members, Kent Davis, Bennett Drozic, Molly Hannan, Paige Johnson, EB Love, John Townsend-Mehler, BZ Noonan, and Danielle Thomsen will create a full play in two acts using only their acting talents and improbably large heads. The whole night can be summed up by one cast member's quote, "Scripts? We don't need no stinking scripts!"

The Improverts will be performing Random Acts Of Improv for three nights only, with (obviously) a new play each night. Come join the fun at 8pm from March 30-April 1. Tickets are only $7 to see this amazing, once in a lifetime event (literally, each of these plays will only be performed once!). Make your reservations now, online at vergetheater.com or in person at Cactus Records. Verge Theater is located at the extremely creative end of North Bozeman, at 2304 N. 7th, across from Murdoch's.

Monday Night Improv On The Verge
