MISSOULA, MT- The School of Theatre & Dance announces an open call for allindividuals interested in auditioning for Hair. Considered "the American Tribal-Rock LoveMusical," Hair is the first season production of the 2010-2011 academic year. Dr. RandyBolton, the production's director, would like to encourage Montanans of every stripe to attend this audition-especially people with multicultural and multiracial backgrounds.No professional theatre experience is necessary in order to audition!Auditions for Hair will be held on the UM campus in the Montana Theatre of the Performing Arts and Radio/Television Center (across from the Adams Center) on Sunday, August 29, 2010, from 5-7 pm. Scheduling an audition time will not be necessary; allauditionees should simply arrive at the Montana Theatre by 5 pm. Auditionees should prepare a one-minute contemporary monologue and also be prepared to sing at least 16 bars of a rock/pop song. Live piano accompaniment will be provided; auditionees should try to bring sheet music for their songs if possible.
Selected auditionees will be asked to return to the Montana Theatre for a second audition that will include learning and performing a short dance routine. Those callbacks will beheld the evening of Tuesday, August 31, beginning at 7 pm. Interested parties must be available most evenings from September 1-October 30.
