With maternity coming early for Alpine Theatre Project's Yuletide Affair 8: Maternity Edition, ATP Artistic Director Betsi Morrison has enlisted the help of a few Broadway friends to deliver the popular holiday concert in style. The annual holiday concert runs December 19-20 at 7pm at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. There is also an added "Sweet Seat" post-show reception after the performance on 12/20.
"We could not be more thrilled to have our friends coming to celebrate the holidays with us as well as to help Betsi," says ATP Executive Director and Morrison's husband, Luke Walrath.
When it became clear that Morrison, who usually directs the evening as well as perform, could possibly deliver her twin boys around the time of the concert, she turned to friends from Broadway and around the country to come and perform, many of whom have performed in past ATP productions.
Those friends include Julie Foldesi, who appeared on Broadway in The Full Monty, Little Women, and the latest revival of South Pacific; Aaron Ramey, who was seen on Broadway in Curtains, Thoroughly Modern Millie, and Young Frankenstein. Also arriving is Matt Densky and Anne Thomas from New York City who last appeared in ATP's hit production of Hair. Densky recently appeared in the national tour of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and Thomas appeared in the Las Vegas production of Mamma Mia! Joining in are professional New York actors Charissa Bertels, who has appeared in 3 ATP productions, most recently The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and
Aaron Vega, who appeared in ATP's acclaimed production of Godspell. Local favorite and Emmy Award winning songwriter Holly Hendricks rounds out the singing talent. Morrison also enlisted a slew of musicians from New York and Los Angeles as well, including pianist/arranger/composer, Brandon Gwinn, jazz recording artist, Rob Mosher, drummer James Pingenot, and longtime ATP pianist and musical director, Billy Thompson.
Yuletide Affair 8: Maternity Edition will feature an evening of traditional and contemporary holiday tunes with a healthy sprinkling of satire. Even Morrison's pregnancy is fuel for comedy this year.
