Ground Zero Theatre (GZT) with the generous support of Hit & Myth Productions (H&M) proudly presents The Boy's Own Jedi Handbook by Stephen Massicotte, running February 11 - 21 at The Studio at Vertigo Theatre. Tickets are on sale now at 403-221-3708 or online at groundzerotheatre.ca.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing back to our stage The Boy's Own Jedi Handbook. Technically, this was the very first show that Ground Zero Theatre produced way back in 1997! It's going to be like spending Christmas with an old friend," said Ryan Luhning, Ground Zero's Artistic Director, also directing this production.

A not so long time ago in a theatre not so far away came a film that rocked the galaxy changing both cinema and schoolyards forever. This film was of course George Lucas' first installment of Star Wars.

Stephen Massicotte's The Boys Own Jedi Handbook masterfully explores the phenomenon through the eyes of an imaginative ten-year old. "The kid" has recently moved to a new town (a whole new galaxy for a ten year old), when a science fiction film sparks a life-changing friendship.

Massicotte is a playwright and actor and his award-winning plays Looking After Eden, Pervert, and The Boy's Own Jedi Handbook series originated at Ground Zero Theatre. In 2002, his play Mary's Wedding premiered at Alberta Theatre Projects' playRites Festival and won the 2000 Alberta Playwriting Competition, the 2002 Betty Mitchell Award for Best New Play, and the 2003 Gwen Pharis Ringwood Award for Drama at the Alberta Literary Awards. Mary's Wedding continues to be produced throughout the US, Canada, and the UK.

"Hot on the heels of the mega blockbuster, we would love for you to join us in the theater for this tour-de-force production starring one of Calgary's finest actors, Christian Goutsis. And as always, we are thrilled to be teaming up with Hit & Myth Productions for this heart warming, hilarious production."
