Main Stage in February
True West, by Sam Shepard
Upcoming in February, on our Main Stage at the Equinox Theatre, is True West, by Sam Shephard. Austin, a "successful" young man with a family and a budding screenwriting career house-sits for his mother who is away on vacation. He is searching for privacy to work on a screenplay, but is quickly interrupted by his brother Lee, an alcoholic, thief, and "loser" who has also decided to return home. At first, Lee only intends to steal a few items of value from his mother's neighbors, then move on. Although Austin protests, he quickly realizes there is little he can do to change his brother's behavior and simply requests that he be out of the house by the following day when Austin is expecting a visit from Hollywood producer, Saul Kimmer. This play, about Two estranged brothers who are delivered into each others company over a long weekend, is a tragicomedy that explores sibling strife and the search for identity. There will be a complimentary wine and dessert function, beginning at 7:30pm, prior to the opening night show on Friday, February 18th.
