Verdi Requiem at Opéra de Massy

Choir, soloists and Orchestra combine to blow you away still further in the emotion.
"Mass for the dead", the requiem takes a passionately carnal and romantic dimension with Verdi. Theatricality is flush with each note: the depths are black and ominous, suspended and angelic bliss. Verdi passes from one to another using lightning breaks of speech or organizing huge crescendos.
The means used by Verdi are indeed reminiscent of a lyrical work: trumpets hidden vocal quartets, operatic arias, fugues from the chorus (in particular in the Sanctus), breaks between the different parties...
Composed in memory of Allesandro Manzoni, Verdi's Requiem does it as an opera dedicated to death more than a great writer?
