The Grimaldi Forum Monaco will be presenting CHICAGO, the musical, from tonight, 21 June to 24 June.
The plot is based on a true story that took place in the 1920s. Roxie Hart, a young chorus girl, murders her lover. In prison, she meets her idol, Velma Kelly, a jazz singer and double murderer. Not only does she manage to escape from prison with the help of the famous lawyer Billy Flynn, but also uses her trial to become a showbiz star."Chicago" was created by the successful writers of "Cabaret" and "New York, New York" and the legendary choreographer Bob Fosse. Its sexy, daring cast presents a show full of songs that have become classics of their genre, including "All That Jazz," "Funny Honey," "Mr Cellophane," "Nowadays" and "Razzle Dazzle."That may explain why "Chicago" has been such a global hit from Broadway to London, with a string of international tours, collecting six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy Award and thousands of standing ovations on the way.Performances at 8.30 pm tonight, June 21 and Friday 22 and Saturday 23 June; and at 3 pm on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24 June.
