“[Jones’s] gifts: pungent, purposeful character development, compelling storytelling and pure-dance interludes of slippery and often deeply romantic choreography.” —Washington Post
Bill T. Jones, one of America’s most accomplished dancemakers, creative force behind Broadway’s Spring Awakening and Fela!, and 2010 Kennedy Center honoree, returns to the Walker with his international company in Story/Time. Jones commands center stage with his flow of autobiographical seventy one-minute micro stories. With a formal structure inspired by composer John Cage’s Indeterminacy (1959), the piece operates on the principle of chance to layer movement, stories, and music in the moment.
