University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater to Prsent O BRAVE NEW WORLD, 4/20-29

A new generation of American actors showcases its talents as the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program Class of 2012 presents O Brave New World, a pair of new plays, in the Dowling Studio, April 20 –29. The two plays, both inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest, are by playwrights Gregory S. Moss and Victoria Stewart. Moss' Golden Age is a dreamlike drama in which a tribe of runaways strive to forge an ideal society. Stewart's In Game or Real is a modern riff exploring the betrayals and epic wins possible in the virtual world of online video games. Both shows will play each evening. Benjamin McGovern directs Golden Age, which features Liam Benzvi, Alex Brightwell, Haley Houck, Brian Curtis James, Shannon Mae Leach, Michael Patrick McDonald, Andrea San Miguel, and Thallis Santesteban, while Suzy Messerole directs In Game or Real, which features Stephen George Cook, Elyse Edelman, Angela Janas, Suzy Kohane, Ben Mandelbaum, Paris Hunter Paul, Miriam Schwartz, and Susanna Stahlmann. 

In addition to O Brave New World, the Class of 2012 will present one public performance of Snapshots (Thursday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m.), a series of monologues and short scenes from classic and contemporary literature. 

The artistic team also includes Mina Kinukawa (Set Designer), Laura Cuccia-Nilsen (Costume Designer), Jesse Cogswell (Lighting Designer), Devin Nee  (Sound Designer), Jason Hansen (Music Consultant for Golden Age),Lucinda Holshue (Vocal Coach/Consultant), Peter Moore (Fight Choreographer for Golden Age), Annie Enneking(Fight Choreographer for In Game or Real), Mary Herzog (Properties Master), Adam Ehret (Stage Manager for Golden Age) and Jenny Moeller (Stage Manager for In Game or Real). 

The GUTHRIE THEATER (Joe Dowling, Director) was founded by Sir Tyrone Guthrie in 1963 and is an American center for theater performance, production, education and professional training. The Tony Award-winning Guthrie Theater is dedicated to producing the great works of dramatic literature, developing the work of contemporary playwrights and cultivating the next generation of theater artists. With annual attendance of nearly 500,000 people, the Guthrie Theater presents a mix of classic plays and contemporary work on its three stages.
