Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak has proclaimed May 6, 2009 Charlie Moore Day. Moore is being recognized for his service to the Mixed Blood Theatre, the students of Minneapolis, Minnesota and the upper Midwest for more than a quarter century.

Moore has provided educational programming and cultural competency to more than 2.6 million students and has been the face and voice of Mixed Blood Theatre to educators, audiences, the general public and the Mixed Blood Board and staff. The programming Moore disseminates is reflective of the mission and goals of the Mixed Blood Theatre Company and is in the spirit of Dr King's dream.

The Mixed Blood Theatre Company, founded 31 years ago by artistic director Jack Reuler, is dedicated to the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream. The professional, multi-racial company promotes cultural pluralism, individual equality and artistic excellence in its main stage, touring and customized corporate productions
