Theatre in the Round Players (TRP) opens its 61st season as the longest-running theatre in Minneapolis with the classic Greek comedy Lysistrata by Aristophanes in weekend performances, September 7-30, 2012.

Athens and Sparta have been at war for years when heroine Lysistrata decides to force peace – by persuading women on both sides to withhold sex until their husbands and lovers stop the fighting. From ribald puns to outrageous physical comedy, this bawdy satire has had audiences laughing since it was first performed in 411 B.C.

Note: Graphic sexual humor for mature audiences.

Ivy Award-winning Craig Johnson wrote this adaptation of the Greek classic and directs a cast of 22 featuring Jean Williamson in the title role. Sets are designed by Michael Hoover, costumes by Carolann Winther, and lighting by Dietrich Poppen.

An audience discussion with members of the company will follow the matinee performance on Sunday, September 16th.

Tickets are $22. For information, call the theatre's box office at 612-333-3010 or visit its website at www.TheatreintheRound.org.
