Theatre Pro Rata, the company known for its cult hits like Killer Joe and Slag Heap, presents another dark and chaotic story: Marisol, by José Rivera. Marisol will perform at The Gremlin Theater in St. Paul. Pro Rata creates quality, text-based, actor-centered theater.

Marisol Perez's routine existence changes abruptly when her guardian angel informs her that the angels are planning a rebellion against God. With the heavens in an uproar, social stability and natural order rapidly begin to deteriorate on Earth. Acid rain burns the skin; apples and coffee are extinct. The sun never rises and the moon is lost in the orbit of another planet. Men can bear children. Like the other poor mortals suffering without assistance from on high, Marisol does her best to stumble along, trying to make sense of a world gone mad.

Pro Rata again draws on some of the best talent in the Twin Cities; featuring Twin Cities newcomer Roneet Rahamim as Marisol and Pro Rata Resident Artist Amber Bjork as the Angel. The production is directed by artistic director Carin Bratlie, whose recent work on Bard Fiction made it an encore presentation and with that the top selling production at the 2009 Fringe Festival. Special Effects will be designed by Crist Ballas, of Metamorphosis Makeup Artistry.

Pro Rata uses an innovative ticketing system with Sliding Scale Ticketing. For all performances patrons name their own price between $14 and $41. Artistic Director Carin Bratlie says, "Theater should be accessible to everyone, price should not get in the way." As always, Pro Rata will offer a Pay What You Can Performance with no limits on price.

Performances at The Gremlin Theater, 2400 University Ave. St, Paul, 55114.
