Audience discussion follows the matinee on Sunday, January 27 Theatre in the Round Players (TRP) continues its 67th season with These Shining Lives by Melanie Marnich, in weekend performances from January 11 through February 3, 2019.
Based on the true story of four women who worked at a factory in Illinois in the 1920s, painting watch dials to glow in the dark using a special paint made with radium. They developed increasingly severe symptoms, downplayed by the company as well as their own doctors, until they were finally diagnosed with fatal radiation poisoning.
This touching drama chronicles the strength and determination of these women in refusing to allow the company that stole their health to endanger the lives of others. Linda S. Paulsen directs the 12-member cast, with sets designed by Abbie Krohn and Sadie Ward, costumes by Mickey Foley, and lighting by Mark Kieffer.
An audience discussion with members of the company will follow the matinee performance on Sunday, January 27.
