Theater Latté Da takes musical theater to new heights-literally- combining intriguing stories, compelling music and the art of aerialism. Passage of Dreams was created in collaboration with the New York-based team Katie Baldwin Eng, playwright and Jeff Tang, composer.
The three short musicals, Passage of Dreams, Thirst and Bessie's Birthday, were commissioned by Theater Latté Da and New York University's Write/Act Festival. The work was developed at the Playwrights' Center as part of PlayLabs in 2006, and has had several workshops and readings in Minneapolis and New York. The Southern Theater run marks the first time the works have been fully realized, demonstrating Theater Latté Da's deep commitment to the development and production of new musical storytelling.
"Katie and Jeff are stretching the boundaries of musical theater in dynamic ways," said Theater Latté Da Artistic Director Peter Rothstein. "Their work is quirky, compelling, playful and inherently theatrical."
