On Monday, March 19, the Guthrie Theater will be host to the MN High School Thespian Conference, an all-day event involving more than 400 students from nearly 20 high schools from the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota.
Events will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a welcoming ceremony on the Wurtele Thrust Stage, followed by a day of activities including six one-act plays performed on the McGuire Proscenium Stage, a series of showcases, and more than 40 workshops throughout the theater focused on acting, stage combat, improvisation, auditioning, voice, clowning, dialects, dance and more.
Other events include panel discussions in the Dowling Studio, special classes taught by seniors in the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program and an “Open Mic” on the Guthrie’s Level 5. The day will conclude with an award ceremony on the Wurtele Thrust Stage from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
