Theatre in the Round Players (TRP) opens its 59th season as the oldest theatre in Minneapolis with Tom Stoppard's "Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead" in weekend performances September 10 through October 3.

This 1967 absurdist comedy is a look at "Hamlet" from the viewpoint of two of its minor characters, the college chums of the Prince of Denmark. We follow these silly, rather likable Elizabethan courtiers as they ponder and pontificate on their journey to Elsinore -- completely clueless as to why they're there, what's their purpose, and even who they are exactly. This award-winning and highly-praised farce is Stoppard's most produced work and a showcase for his brilliant wordplay.
John Gaspard directs a cast of seventeen, featuring Connor Bohne as Rosencrantz and Dietrich Poppen as Guildenstern. Sets are designed by Chad van Kekerix, costumes by Rebecca Ballas, and lighting by Peter Mitchell, with music composed by Don Sweet.

An audience discussion with director Gaspard and members of the company will follow the matinee performance on Sunday, September 26th.  Tickets are $20, with discounts for seniors and a student price of $10 on Fridays and Sundays. For information, call the theatre's box office at 612-333-3010 or visit its website at www.TheatreintheRound.org.
