Tony Award-winning Children's Theatre Company is holding auditions for all student roles for the four-time, Tony Award-winning production of Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical at Mall of America on August 18, 2018 between 9:30am to 3:30pm. CTC is encouraging students of any/all genders, racial backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels to audition. All student roles are being considered for this and other CTC productions through this audition. There will be an additional call-back audition at a later date.
The theatre is especially looking for strong actor/singer/dancers grades 4-12 (ages 10-18). Actors must be available for rehearsals beginning March 21 and performances running April 28 through June 23, 2019. Young actors wishing to audition can sign up for a timeslot on CTC's Auditions Page. A select number of spots in each timeslot will be held for those wishing to sign-up the day of the audition.
Previous CTC student actor alums who have risen to fame include Ryan McCartan (Disney Channel's Liv and Maddie; Fox Television's The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again; Off-Broadway: Heathers: The Musical), Vincent Kartheiser (HBO's Mad Men), Lea Thompson (Back to the Future, Howard the Duck; NBC's Caroline in the City; ABC's Switched at Birth), Francesca Curran (Netflix's Orange is the New Black), Alix Kendall (Fox 9 news anchor), and many others.
There will be additional surprises, pop-up performances, register-to-win tickets, activities, and ticket kiosks to purchase tickets to CTC's productions as well. Come celebrate the power of kids to transform our world with CTC at Mall of America.
Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, with book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, this is the story of Matilda. Her dreadful parents can't stand her. Her headmistress is a horrible, nasty, name-calling, life-sucking tyrant who puts kids in cupboards with nails and broken glass. (And you thought you had it bad.) This captivating girl-power romp revels in the anarchy of childhood. Celebrating the tenacity of the small, Matilda proves that the strength to be yourself (along with a little telekinetic power) will prevail at the end of the day. The production runs April 28 through June 23, 2019 on the UnitedHealth Group stage at Children's Theatre Company.
