Stages Theatre Company's Open Door Program allows accessibility for low-income individuals and families, who want to attend shows or to participate in educational programming.
Since 2001, the Open Door Program, which is subsidized in large part by Stages Theatre Company operating funds, serves approximately 18,000 people annually, ensuring that financial and geographic barriers do not prevent individuals from enjoying shows and accessing Stages Theatre Company's quality, educational programs.
The program provides free tickets to productions for low-income families, social service agencies, schools and other organizations serving socio-economically disadvantaged and at-risk children and youth; need-based tuition assistance for children who want to participate in workshops and conservatory programs; bus subsidies for schools who need financial assistance to transport students to plays.
"Our family has really enjoyed attending your performances. We have found that your plays reach important values. We wouldn't have the opportunity to see these plays if it wasn't for the generous offer of free tickets. Thank you for supporting this quality time with our children," says a recipient of the program.
Major support of this program is provided by the Travelers Foundation. Additional support includes: the Allianz Foundation, season subscribers who have made contributions to the program through their subscription order and Xcel Energy Foundation.
