Stages Theatre Company (STC) closes its 29th season with the smash hit "Disney's Aladdin Jr." opening June 28 at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Audiences can expect to see their favorite characters -- Princess Jasmine, Genie and Aladdin - as they embark on an adventure filled with magic and mayhem.

To make that magic and mayhem come to life, STC is using several special effects. Cryo jets, fog, confetti cannons and a star maze are just some of the tricks that will surprise audiences. "The show is apparently all about two letters and one number - CO2. Cryo jets produce a plume of "smoke" (CO2 cloud) that reaches 20-30 feet. The plumes of smoke can be colored by either ambient stage lighting or lighting instrumentation directed on them, so they can range in colors limited only by the lighting designer's imagination," says Associate Technical Director Jim Hibbeler. The production also features confetti cannons (which use CO2 cartridges) and a star maze that will add an elaborate quality to the overall production.

Special events revolving around "Disney's Aladdin Jr." include St. Jude's second annual Theatre of Dreams, a family fundraising event celebrating theatre and the lifesaving mission of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Visit www.stjude.org for more information. The cast will appear at Mall of America on Tuesday, July 2 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for Toddler Tuesday, and at the Minnesota Children's Museum on Tuesday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The Academy award-winning score includes favorite songs like "A Whole New World," "One Jump Ahead" and "A Friend Like Me." STC's production of "Disney's Aladdin Jr." opens June 28 and ends Aug. 4, with a run time of 60 minutes and is suitable for all ages. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.stagestheatre.org for performance dates and times, or by calling the Box Office at (952) 979-1111, Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $12 for children (ages 5 to 17) and seniors (60+). The STC production of "Disney's Aladdin Jr." is sponsored by RBC Wealth Management.
