This November at The Southern Theater, Raw Sugar and Theatre Corrobora are teaming up to present a theatrical event of two original works that explore the personal, real-life stories of three local female artists.
Based On / A True Story is comprised of two unique narratives that are connected by a common thread: What does it mean to think you know the life path you are on? What does it mean to find out that life has another plan for you? And how do you cope with that divergence?
Act One, Raw Sugar
FADEAWAY GIRL is the true story of playwright/performer Rachel Petrie's experience coming to terms with a bipolar disorder diagnosis. From her very first manic episode in 2004 to present day, Rachel shares her personal stories of derailment, discovery, reinvention, and joy.
Act Two, Theatre Corrobora
THE CRITIC AND THE DRAMA QUEEN was inspired by the story of real-life friends and coproducers Aidan Jhane Gallivan and Hailey Colwell, a local actor and writer, respectively. The play follows the evolution of a friendship and the scary places it can go when artistic pride gets in the way.
