Performances will run from March 7-8-9, 2025.
The British are coming again! This time, Shakespeare and Queen-for three nights of inspired ballet and live rock music in the World Premiere of "Romeo & Juliet: The Rock Ballet," at the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, March 7-8-9, 2025. Twin Cities Ballet (TCB) proudly presents an electrifying fusion of Shakespeare's timeless story with the iconic music of Queen, with live music by local band Mark Joseph's Dragon Attack. *
Artistic Directors Denise and Rick Vogt, the innovative duo that created Pink Floyd's The Wall: A Rock Ballet, have reimagined Shakespeare's tragic love story for a new generation:
"Our World Premiere ballet is more than just a show," notes Denise Vogt. "This contemporary ballet will deliver an unforgettable, high-octane, emotional ride that you won't want to miss."
Set in a dystopian future where rival gangs battle for survival and dominance in a post-apocalyptic urban wasteland, this visually stunning production takes Shakespeare's classic Romeo and Juliet into a bold, modern world with breathtaking choreography, fantastic dancing, original sets, costumes, lighting, a live band playing Queen's music, and captivating multimedia projections.
The live music will be enhanced by students from the St. Olaf Musical Theater Lab, a new contemporary vocal ensemble at St. Olaf.
