Walking Shadow presented the second production ever of Robots vs. Fake Robots by young LA playwright David Largman Murray, which closed June 27. This sexy, awkward, and very funny script envisions a dark future where some humans want to be like the ruling robot class. It asks questions about what it means to be human, what we should desire, and what we're willing to give up to achieve our dreams. The production featured energetic dance, tight recycled clothing, and the awesome post-apocalyptic atmosphere of the People's Center Theater.

It is the year 6000. All organic life has been destroyed except for a handful of humans. The world is ruled by ultra-sexy Robots who are mysterious, immortal, and ultra-sexy. Humans want to be like them, and this is sad. Some humans dress up like Robots, and some humans would give anything to become one. Half twisted comedy and half science-fiction fantasia, this new play is filled with desire, betrayal and ultra-sexy Robot dance.

Cast highlights included John Catron (Pillsbury's Bug, Jon Ferguson's Animal Farm) as the unhappy human Joe, Zoe Benston (Walking Shadow's Seventy Scenes of Halloween, 36 Views, Amazons and Their Men) as the robot War Propaganda, Matt Rein (Romeo in Children's Theater's Romeo and Juliet) as Morse Code, and Jen Phillips (Walking Shadow's Fat Pig and Caligula) as Garlic Press the Robot Whore.

Director Steve Moulds previously brought Robots vs. Fake Robots to the Playwrights' Center, where he directed a workshop version that led to its current form. Moulds has directed for the History Theater (Kirby) and assistant directed for the Children's Theater (Anon) and the Guthrie (Boats on a River, The Sex Habits of American Women). He is also a playwright (New Theatre Group's Killer Smile, Illusion Theater's ...Von Rollo).

Since 2004, Walking Shadow Theatre has gained a reputation for creating well-staged and carefully researched independent theater. Past productions include the well-received regional premiere of Neil LaBute's Fat Pig at The Playwrights' Center and David Greig's The American Pilot at the Minneapolis Theatre Garage, as well as notable Fringe Festival successes including the sold-out 1926 Pleasant, and Shakespeare's Land of the Dead, best-selling show of the 2008 Fringe.
