In a small Mississippi town in the early 1900s, Alma Winemiller is in love with John Buchanan, the town’s rakish doctor. But the minister’s daughter is painfully sensitive – and lost in dreams of romance and purity. Strong, lyrical writing, with characters torn between the spiritual and the sensual, has made this one of the most highly-regarded works by Tennessee Williams, who said “Miss Alma may very well be the best female portrait I have drawn in a play”.
Randy Reyes directs a cast of 13 featuring Joanna Harmon as Alma and Casey Hoekstra as John. Sets are designed by Rob Jensen, costumes by Carolann Winther, and lighting by Matthew McNabb.
An audience discussion with members of the company will follow the matinee performance on Sunday, October 28th. Tickets for the run are $22. For information, call the theatre's box office at 612-333-3010 or visit its website at www.TheatreintheRound.org.
