Second Stage Theatre Company invites audiences to book passage on board the world's most famous ship as they present the five-time Tony Award winning musical Titanic on July 15-31st at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center.

Written by Peter Stone and Maury Yeston, Titanic is a modern classic American musical that illustrates both the grandeur and the tragedy of the sinking of the R.M.S. Titanic, serving as a tribute to the human spirit and the frailty of life. Winner of the Best Musical Tony Award, this large scale production offers elegant musical orchestration, haunting melodies and a spectacular scenic design.

"From the start, the audience knows how it's going to end." says Artistic Director, Randy Day. "It is both heart warming and heart breaking to spend Act One being introduced to these real characters, all the while knowing the tragic fate that waits for them." But, it's the score that Day says audiences will really love. "The music is very moving and passionate - quite even cinematic. It allows the individual stories within the ship's legacy come to life. Combined with the careful attention to detail in the show's design and engineering, Titanic offers an unforgettable experience in live musical theatre."

The musical premiered on Broadway in 1997, a few months before the hit movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet opened. Whereas the movie's lead characters are fictional, those within this show are not. Stone and Yeston take liberties with a few of the secondary characters, but for the most part, audiences will find onstage the very same people who were on the Titanic that fateful night, including Captain Smith, architect Thomas Andrews, millionaire John Jacob Astor and the poor immigrants of Third Class.

Titanic will perform at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center on July 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, 31 at 7:30 pm and 18, 25 at 2:00 pm. Adult tickets are $20 each, with student/senior prices at $15. Sunday matinee prices are $15 for regular tickets and $10 for students/seniors. Tickets can be reserved at www.ticketmaster.com.

Come and take a voyage into the past with this unforgettable musical sensation.
