Ordway's own production of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" highlights local cast, local creative collaborations and a full night of joyous cheer this holiday season during its three-week run from December 15, 2009 - January 3, 2010.

"Disney's ‘Beauty and the Beast' is a beautifully magical tale - perfect for this holiday season," states Ordway's President and CEO, Patricia Mitchell. "All of us at the Ordway are delighted to be producing this wonderful gift of a show for our Twin Cities community."

This Disney classic tells a "tale as old as time," the tale of a hideous beast transformed into a prince through the power of a young woman's love. The show is filled with all of the story's favorite characters that audiences adore; however, this production tells the tale in a non-traditional approach.

Ordway's Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" promises to be a different version than the original adaptation for Broadway. Traditional elements such as sets and choreography will be tweaked to produce an original and recreated version of the fairytale.

"Disney's Beauty and the Beast may be a classic title, but we take pride in creating something original, unique and pertinent," says Ordway Vice President of Programming and Producing Artistic Director, James Rocco.

Featuring a significantly local cast, the Ordway's Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" includes Jeremiah James (Beast), Laurine Price (Belle), Bradley Greenwald (Lumiere), Wayne Morton (Maurice), Sally Ann Wright (Mrs. Potts), Christina Baldwin (Madame de la Grande Bouche), Jonathan Burgard (Gaston), Kacie Riddle and Leo Plante (Chip), Christopher Sergeeff (Lefou), Ed Dixon (Cogsworth), and Zoe Pappas (Babette).

"We're proud to connect the Twin Cities' community in creating this show," states Rocco. "This production engages local cast members you'll see onstage, local crew who help technically create the show, local businesses who supply the materials we use to create scenery and costumes, and even local hotels and apartment complexes that join in to help house our out-of-town guests. Disney's ‘Beauty and the Beast' is a real Twin Cities' collaborative product."

The creative team for the Ordway's production of Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" showcases Robert Johanson (Director), James Rocco (Programming Producer), Linda Talcott Lee (Choreographer), Raymond Berg (Musical Director), Kate Sutton-Johnson (Set Designer), Tulle & Dye (Costume Designer), Paul Hackenmueller (Lighting Designer), David Patridge (Sound Designer), Robert A. Dunn (Wig Designer), Miko Simmons (Animator/Projections), Laura Wilhelm (Properties Designer) and Jason Allyn-Schwerin (Technical Director).
