The Ordway Center for the Performing Arts will welcome two special one-night-only performances in January as part of its World Music & Dance Series. Dengue Fever will kick off the new year on Jan. 9, followed by Ballet Hispanico on Jan. 14. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased online at www.ordway.org, by phone at 651-224-4222 or in person at the Ordway ticket office.

L.A.-based band Dengue Fever is widely recognized for its trademark blend of Cambodian pop, psychedelic rock and American garage-rock. The band has received numerous accolades since its founding, including an Independent Music Award for Best World Fusion Album and, most recently, named one of the Top World Albums of 2015 by Mojo Magazine. Dengue Fever's music has been featured in a number of films and television shows, including City of Ghosts, Must Love Dogs, Broken Flowers and twice on Showtime's hit series, Weeds. This event will include a dance floor for audience members during the performance.

Ballet Hispanico is an American dance company celebrating 45 years of repertory that reflects the diversity of Latino cultures. Led by artistic director Eduardo Vilaro, the group presents a multifaceted array of contemporary works from today's foremost choreographers, as well as up-and-coming artists. Ballet Hispanico has performed for audiences totaling over three million, throughout 11 countries, and on three continents. The Jan. 14 show will include performances of three popular Ballet Hispanico pieces: "El Beso" by Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, "Sombrerísimo" by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and "Club Havana" by Pedro Ruiz.

"It's exhilarating to see these two well-established groups continue to push the envelope in their respective fields," said Dayna Martinez, Ordway's artistic director of World Music & Dance. "Dengue Fever has expanded their signature style of '60s Cambodian pop and garage rock to incorporate influences like Khmer rap, Latin grooves and Afro percussion. And Ballet Hispanico explores the experiences of Hispanic and Latino Americans through cutting-edge contemporary dance and emerging artists. These performances are the perfect way to welcome the new year."

The Ordway's World Music & Dance Series is presented by Target. For tickets and more information, visit www.ordway.org.
