Northrop Performing Arts Showcases Zimbabwean Artists and Film Screenings 4/27-5/1

Northrop Performing Arts at the University of Minnesota presents a performance featuring three Zimbabwean artists. Headlining the event is Nora Chipaumire on Thursday, April 29 at 7:30 pm. Nora Chipaumire is dedicated to the visual, aural, and kinesthetic equivalent of Africa's great cities. Self-exiled artist and Bessie Award winner, Chipaumire is known for her brave, transnational work that investigates contemporary African life. Chipaumire teams up with dancer Souleymane Badolo and master musician and poet Thomas Mapfumo with his band The Blacks Unlimited. In conjunction with the April 29 performance, screenings of the African films "Nora", "St. Louis Blues", and "1X2" will be presented April 27-28 and May 1.
