Minnetonka Theatre's THE SOUND OF MUSIC to Feature Jen Burleigh-Bentz and John Trones

Minnetonka Theatre will be celebrating this holiday season with Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical classic, The Sound of Music. Timeless songs including "My Favorite Things", "Do-Re-Mi", and "Edelweiss" will enchant audiences on the Arts Center on 7 Main Stage December 9-18.

Minnetonka Theatre Associate Director Trent Boyum will stage the holiday show. "I have wanted to direct this show for years, and I am thrilled to finally have the opportunity. We are known for our top-notch talent and lavish production values, and our Sound of Music won't disappoint!"

The stellar cast will be headed up by Minnetonka Theatre favorites Jen Burleigh-Bentz as Maria and John Trones as Captain von Trapp, last seen together at the Arts Center in Annie Get Your Gun, Hello, Dolly!, and The Romance of Broadway. They are also set to perform in the highly anticipated Karen and Richard Carpenter tribute tour, Yesterday Once More. Kathleen Bloom, with local credits in Minnesota Opera and Theatre Latte Da, will star as Mother Abbess.

"I am thrilled Jen and John will be joining us for this beautiful production. They are a part of our theatre family, and that's what the holiday season is all about," says Boyum. "And just wait until you hear Kathleen's rendition of ‘Climb Every Mountain', it will blow the roof off the theater! Add the kids and the cute quotient will be off the charts."
