Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company's hit holiday production The Magic Dreidels is back this holiday season. The Magic Dreidels is adapted from the endearing book of the same name by Eric A. Kimmel. It was originally commissioned by MJTC in 2000, and since that time also been produced in Atlanta and Cleveland.

The Magic Dreidels is the story of Jacob, a young boy who is sent to the well by his father to get water for preparation of the holiday meal. There he loses his dreidel, a small spinning top, down the well. A goblin living in the well replaces his dreidel with magical ones, beginning a series of adventures for Jacob with a lonely neighbor, Fruma Sarah. This engaging holiday tale is an opportunity to learn about the cultural traditions of Hanukkah, and the universal themes of sharing, caring, compassion, and friendship.

The Magic Dreidels is directed by Scott RubsaM. Scott directed MJTC's acclaimed production of Moonlight and Magnolias and Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins, 2010. Other credits include writing and directing Flashbacks, A Christmas Past – Christmas Present and Americana for The Guthrie Theater, and directing at Illusion Theatre, Playwrights' Center, Park Square Theatre, and Theatre in the Round. He is currently on the faculty of Metropolitan State University.

Leading the cast is Ryan McCormick who recently was seen at the Guthrie Theater in The Burial at Thebes.
Also in the cast is David Coral whose MJTC credits include My Name is Asher Lev, The Triangle Factory Fire Project, Twilight of the Golds, The Chosen, and upcoming, My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding; Wendy Freshman, whose MJTC credits include The 75th, The God of Isaac, Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins; and Julie Ann Nevill who appeared in MJTC's Hershel & The Hanukkah Goblin, and Women's Minyan.
