Being dubbed ‘the vasectomy comedy', The Love Knot, a new play produced by The Directors LLP is playing at the company's new home, The Music Box Theatre, as part of a 14 city tour this fall. With seven Minneapolis performances from September 24th through October 2nd, the production was written exclusively for The Directors by nationally recognized playwright Allison Moore and is directed by Minneapolis director and producer Steve Barberio. Touring out of Minneapolis, The Love Knot features Twin Cities based performers including Dan Hopman, Shelby Flannery , Mary Fox, Taj Ruler, Nathan Surprenant and Amanda Whisner.
The Love Knot is a comedy about love and marriage, age and image, growing up and settling down. It tells the story of newlyweds Hope (Mary Fox) and Allen (Dan Hopman): he's almost 50 and Hope is his second wife. She's in her late 30s and wants Allen to be the father of her child. But he's tied up in knots-literally. Does he want children, or doesn't he? Why didn't he have children in his first marriage? A "cutting" comedy, the play The Love Knot is a romantic night out for those looking to laugh out loud about the ties that bind, and the vast differences between lovers.
