The Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company (MJTC) is pleased to announce that Sally Wingert will be returning to star in the regional premiere of 2.5 Minute Ride by Lisa Kron. Sally won an IVEY award in 2007 for her portrayal of Peggy Guggenheim in MJTC's acclaimed production Woman Before a Glass.

2.5 Minute Ride is a funny and touching journey through a family album which tells a beautiful story of a father-daughter relationship. Take trips with Lisa and her father to Germany as they revisit his youth and the sorrow of a teenager who escaped the Nazis by kindertransport, ride roller-coasters with them at Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, and experience the wedding of Lisa's brother and his internet bride in Canarsie, Brooklyn. Along the way, you'll meet Lisa's mother, partner, and a cadre of other relatives in a rich look at the eccentricities of family and how life's experiences and events shape who we become.

2.5 Minute Ride will be directed by Beth Cleary. She previously directed MJTC's production of Cherry Docs. Beth is the chair of the Theatre and Dance Department at Macalester College where she teaches and directs. Her productions include In the Heart of America, Slaughter City, The Retreating World, Mother Courage and her Children, Waiting for Lefty, and Funnyhouse of a Negro. Beth freelances as both a director and dramaturg. Credits include Okoboji Summer Theatre (The View from Here) and PlayLabs at Playwright's Center. She regularly works as a dramaturg with Frank Theatre.

2.5 Minute Ride opens Saturday, April 18 and runs through Sunday, May 10, 2009 with performances Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 8 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm. There will be one Sunday evening performance at 7 pm on April 19th. Ticket prices are Wednesdays $18, Thursdays $19, Saturdays $25, Sunday afternoons $22, and Sunday evening $18. Student rush tickets are $12. Group discounts are available. All performances are at MJTC's theater home, Hillcrest Center, 1978 Ford Parkway, Saint Paul The little brown stage Off-River! For ticket reservations call 651-647-4315, Monday through Friday, 9 am - 5:30 pm, or e-mail info@mnjewishtheatre.org.

This production is made possible by funding from Travelers Foundation. This production is also made possible, in part, by a grant from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council through an appropriation by the Minnesota legislative.

Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company is a non-profit organization now in its 14th year of presenting professional productions rooted in the Jewish experience but illuminating the common humanity among us all. The audience for MJTC is almost equally divided between Jews and non-Jews. For further information about MJTC, call 651-647-4315 or visit our website at www.mnjewishtheatre.org.
