History Theatre invites patrons and community members to be an important part of the script development process by attending a staged reading of Nellie by Kim Hines on Sunday, October 16 at 7:00 p.m. Award-winning playwright Kim Hines brings to life the story of Nellie Stone Johnson, an extraordinary Minnesotan who broke gender and color barriers as a civil rights and union activist.
Since 1977, History Theatre has developed and produced more than 100 new plays, more than any other local professional theater. Enlisting the best local and national writers, History Theatre is a leader in the development of new works for the stage. With readings performed by a cadre of talented actors and directors, The RAW STAGES Series is an opportunity for these stories to take their fi rst brave steps from the page to the stage.
During the 2011-2012 season, The RAW STAGES Series will consist of four readings performed on the History Theatre stage on four different Sunday evenings. (A list of future staged readings is posted below.)
