Hennepin Theatre Trust is proud to announce that Andrea Cournoyer has joined the organization as director of public relations and communications.

Cournoyer brings more than 20 years of wide-ranging experience as a communications professional serving the University of Minnesota, nonprofit and philanthropic organizations, and the news media. She most recently completed five years at the University of Minnesota's Humphrey School of Public Affairs, where she directed the school's communications and marketing programs and collaborated across departments to execute high-impact strategies to further the school's missions and goals.

While at the Humphrey School, Cournoyer contributed to strategies that led to increased student enrollment, the school's jump to a top 10 spot in U.S. News & World Report 's national rankings, a successful $2 million fundraising campaign for student scholarships, and the launch its current $20 million major gifts campaign.

Prior to her work with the University of Minnesota, Cournoyer served as a consultant with Plain Depth Consulting, where she worked with numerous clients in Minnesota and beyond, including national foundations, nonprofits, and academic institutions. Cournoyer's strategic communications work builds on her earlier career as a journalist, having worked for more than 10 years as a news reporter in television markets around the country. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications.

"Andrea will be an enormous asset as we begin an historic theatre season with the Minnesota premiere of Hamilton," said Mark Nerenhausen, President/CEO of Hennepin Theatre Trust. "Her extensive experience with nonprofits, foundations, governmental organizations and media will advance strategic communications for the Trust."

Cournoyer stated, "I'm excited to join the Trust during a time when it's gaining momentum as a leading arts organization. I look forward to helping steer the organization toward success through our dedicated mission to create positive change through the arts in downtown Minneapolis and in communities across Minnesota."

Cournoyer joins the Trust as the organization continues to maximize opportunities to enliven and revitalize downtown Minneapolis from its home at 900 Hennepin. The Trust's activities include presenting world-class entertainment at its three historic theatres with the Bank of America Broadway on Season series, concerts and special events; inspiring high school students across the state of Minnesota with its Spotlight Education program, and placemaking and public arts initiatives that create unexpected art experiences with projects like the iconic Bob Dylan mural, 5 to 10 on Hennepin and Made Here.
