Vince Vaughn, the celebrated Minnesota-born actor, will be the next prestigious artist honored by the Minnesota Walk of Fame, an ongoing initiative by Hennepin Theatre Trust that recognizes Minnesotans who have earned national and international acclaim in the entertainment industry, it was announced today. Vaughn will be presented with his star from the stage of the State Theatre on Saturday, November 20, near the beginning of Vince Vaughn's Comedy Road Show that begins at 8 p.m.
Tickets for Vince Vaughn's Comedy Road Show include access to the induction. Vaughn's Minnesota Walk of Fame star will be installed on the Hennepin Avenue sidewalk in the spring.
Vincent Vaughn was born on March 28, 1970, in Minneapolis and raised in Lake Forest, Illinois, where he graduated from high school. Vince was interested in theater early on and went from a spot in a Chevy commercial to a Hollywood hopeful. His first credited film was Rudy (1993) and led to a career-changing role in Swingers (1996). His successful career now includes starring roles in many films including Wedding Crashers and The Break-Up. Vaughn will next be seen in Universal Pictures' comedy The Dilemma, from director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer. The film about how far you can bend a brotherly bond before it snaps also stars Kevin James, Jennifer Connelly, Winona Ryder, Channing Tatum and Queen Latifah. It hits theaters nationwide on January 14, 2011.
As part of the Minnesota Walk of Fame, honors include recognition at a public event and terrazzo stars, designed by artist John Simpson, which are imbedded in the Hennepin Avenue sidewalk. Other celebrities who will soon be honored are Judy Garland, Jessica Lange and James Arness. Minnesotans previously recognized were Bob Dylan, Marion Ross, Tippi Hedren and Loni Anderson. The initial sidewalk plaques may now be visited in front of Hennepin Theatre Trust's State Theatre on Hennepin Avenue between 8th and 9th streets. The project was launched in conjunction with the state's sesquicentennial and is sponsored by Hennepin Theatre Trust and coordinated by film aficionado Robert Roessel. Major support comes from SONY with contributions provided by the Carlson Family Foundation, the Jay & Rose Phillips Family Foundation, the Brenden Mann Foundation and others. Additional donations are being accepted.
