Hennepin Theatre Trust Announces 2011 Holiday Lineup: Linda Eder, Blenders & More

Hennepin Theatre Trust today announced their November and December 2011 holiday entertainment lineup at the Pantages and New Century Theatres, including Minnesota vocalist and Broadway star Linda Eder, the Emmy Award-winning male vocal quartet The Blenders, the Theater Latté Da/Cantus collaboration All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 and the hilarious Minnesota spoof of the Charles Dickens classic A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol. November 25-January 1
Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.

A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol

With 17 original songs including "Gunner Fell Into an Ice Hole" and "The Wheel is Turnin' but the Hamster is Dead," A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol returns to Minneapolis by popular demand after selling out every show the last four Decembers. On Christmas Eve in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota, Sven Yorgensen takes cantankerous bar owner Gunner Johnson on a journey similar to that in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," only very different.

Linda Eder, the dynamic vocalist who grew up in Brainerd, MN and went from a stunning debut on "Star Search" to Broadway, Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, returns to Minneapolis to present an exciting mix of dynamic songs backed by a five-piece band.

Join the versatile vocal group and their soulful live band backing the male quartet's always fabulous and energetic mix of carols, Christmas standards and their own originals that sound like holiday classics! The Blenders' Minneapolis concerts showcase the a cappella-based group's rich harmonies and blended musical styles, including new selections from their upcoming fourth Christmas album, "Christmas Light!," out in November.

The Western Front, Christmas, 1914. Out of the violence comes a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into No Man's Land singing Stille Nacht. Thus begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, peace. All Is Calm is a compelling ode to peace created by playwright/director Peter Rothstein from Theater Latté Da and features Cantus, one of America's finest vocal ensembles, in a production the Star Tribune calls "a classic to be repeated for years to come."
