Those wishing to be inspired and gain skills ranging from creative movement to voice training this fall have a perfect opportunity at the Guthrie. With uniquely gifted instructors and a wide range of offerings the 2013 Fall Multiweek Classes are an ideal way to ignite skills and passions through exciting classes.
Classes begin September 3 and continue through December 21. Classes run in four, six, eight and 12-week sessions. All levels are welcome. Take the words from the page and make them real. Words are the way. Building on the foundation and skills developed in Level 1 and Level 2 Acting, this class will delve into the creative, complex and amazing world of the script. Learn how to identify and activate textual clues to enhance storytelling, spark actions, build characters, define relationships and, ultimately, engage an audience. Over the course of six weeks, you will examine various scripts and learn the way professionals explore, dig in and make the story come to life!
Level 4 Acting
This course will be offered in winter 2014. Dates and times to be announced.

Deepen your knowledge of the play by incorporating character development, script analysis, memorization, rehearsal techniques and working with props and costumes to expand your understanding of the actor's role in specificity and personalization. Scene work will include modern and contemporary plays as well as various period work, including Shakespeare. Guest artists may be invited to teach as interest and demand for specific scene work emerges. The nine weeks will culminate in a final presentation for friends and family.
Level 5 Acting: Studio Intensive

This 8-week advanced acting course will help you delve further into your personal acting challenges, enhance your strengths, face your weaknesses and overcome creative blockages. The work will center on scene study or monologues from a wide variety of styles, periods and playwrights as well as specialized theatrical techniques. Step by step, students will be guided towards committed, connected and dynamic performances. The eight weeks will culminate in a final presentation for friends and family.
