Guthrie Theater External Relations Director Trish Santini today announced the appointment of Quinton Skinner as the Theater's director of communications. Skinner comes to the Guthrie from METRO Magazine, where he has served as senior editor since last October. Prior to that, he spent six years as the theater writer and critic for City Pages, the Twin Cities' local alternative weekly newspaper, writing reviews and features about Minneapolis-St. Paul theater, in addition to serving as the local correspondent for Variety.
"I have long been an admirer of Quinton, and the thoughtfulness and integrity of his writing," said Santini. "His appreciation of our community, his journalistic sensibilities and his love of the theater make him the perfect choice for this position."
In his role as director of communications, Skinner will oversee the creation, integration and execution of strategies for the Theater's publications, website, new media and public relations messages and content, in addition to serving as the key liaison on messages for external communications. He will join the External Relations department on September 1.
Skinner is a writer and editor of contemporary fiction and nonfiction, arts criticism and magazine articles, whose work has appeared nationally in, among others, American Theatre and Glamour, and locally in the Star Tribune, St. Paul Pioneer Press and Mpls.St.Paul Magazine. His novels include 14 Degrees Below Zero (Random House) and Amnesia Nights (Random House/Wilhelm Heyne Verlag); his nonfiction books are Do I Look Like a Daddy to You? A Survival Guide for First-Time Fathers (Dell Publishing), VH1 Behind the Music: Casualties of Rock (Pocket Books) and VH1 Behind the Music: The Day the Music Died (with Martin Huxley, Pocket Books).
