Four Humors is finally brave enough to portray a theatre troupe that is brave enough to tell the story of a corrupt tyrant who has been dead for 1800 years.
The year is 160 AD and the "renowned" Crocus and Ambrosia Players are touring the furthest reaches of the glorious Roman Empire to spread cautionary tales to the recently pacified (and eternally grateful!) savages of... whatever this dumb village is called.
Will the backward locals heed the warnings of absolute power run amok?
Will the awesome power of theatre enlighten their stupid, stupid minds?
Will the players make it out alive?
Hear the epic tale of a vain, power-hungry madman sowing chaos to further his own interests while sinking ever deeper into delusion and paranoia as those who seek to end his corrupt reign grow ever closer.
(No, not that one. Commodus.)
Few leaders in history have matched the personal, political, and moral reprehensibility of Commodus, though, as Mark Twain once said, "History doesn't repeat itself, but it often rhymes."
