Dave King will perform with his new band, The Dave King Trucking Company at the first performance at the new Loring Theater on January 15th. Previously the Music Box Theatre, Loring Theater has now returned to its original name, bringing a broad and eclectic mix of performances to this 90 year old stage.

Twin Cities based performer, Dave King, one of the most prolific jazz/rock percussionists of his generation and founder of Happy Apple, takes to the stage with his latest band, Dave King Trucking Company. Comprised of King on percussion, New York-based artist Chris Speed as reedist and Happy Apple's Erik Fratzke on guitar, King says the group sounds as "if the great Nashville bands of the 60s and 70s could improvise and were Coltrane fanatics."

In the spring of 2010 the Walker Art Center held a two day celebration in honor of Dave King. The New York Times recently stated that King is "better than anyone at mixing the sensibilities of post 60s jazz and indie rock."
