In a season celebrating a hero's journey, two World Premiere productions, classic literary selections, epic adventures and inspiring tales, Children's Theatre Company (CTC) today announces its 2011-2012 season. Among the exciting selections are: Mercy Watson to the Rescue!, A Wrinkle in Time, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy and Pippi Longstocking, as well as an all-time holiday favorite, The Wizard of Oz.
"We are thrilled to bring this amazing collection of stories to Children's Theatre Company," says Peter C. Brosius, artistic director at CTC. "Many of these productions, such as The Wizard of Oz and Pippi Longstocking, have been loved by generations, while others, like Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy and Mercy Watson to the Rescue!, which was written by local author Kate DiCamillo, will touch audiences for the very first time."
This season, we celebrate the hero's journey. From the inadvertent heroism of Mercy Watson to the self-sufficient Pippi Longstocking, CTC will spend next season exploring the many ways in which these charming, courageous, creative, brave and entrepreneurial characters demonstrate the potential within each of us.
