Chanhassen Dinner Theatres (CDT) and the University of Minnesota - Duluth (UMD) have announced the creation of the CHANHASSEN DINNER THEATRES SCHOLARSHIP. The scholarship will benefit theatre students attending the University of Minnesota Duluth's theatre program. Students will have an opportunity to compete for scholarship funds beginning in the fall of 2014.

Chanhassen Dinner Theatres and the UMD Department of Theater formed an educational-professional Alliance in 2012. CDT and UMD join together to prepare the next generation of professionals to carry on the inspiring art form of musical theatre. Through the Alliance, UMD musical theatre students have opportunities to work alongside CDT theatre professionals on stage and behind the scenes to develop successful careers as performers and technicians in the real world of musical theatre through partnerships, fellowships, internships, and now, scholarships.

CDT President and Artistic Director Michael Brindisi is thrilled that UMD will name the scholarship for Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. He stated, "This firmly solidifies our Alliance. We couldn't be more honored to have the scholarship named for CDT and know that musical theatre students of coming generations will benefit from its establishment."

Approximately $50,000 has already been raised to fund the scholarship, halfway to the goal of $100,000. To celebrate this new scholarship fund and increase its potential, CDT will host a fundraising reception and evening of dinner theatre for invited friends of UMD Department of Theatre on Friday, November 15. In addition, CDT will further expand scholarship fundraising efforts by collecting donations from audience members November 12-30 following evening performances.
